English Language Education

Our English Language curriculum is dedicated to building a solid language foundation for our students. Through a systematic phonics programme, diversified reading initiatives, and practical daily applications, we enhance students' overall English literacy. Concurrently, we integrate values education into language learning to foster whole-person development.

RWI Learning-to-Read Phonics Programme

The English curriculum adopts the Read Write Inc. Phonics Programme (RWI) in Primary One, focusing on blending and segmenting sounds to enable students to learn how to read. To support this, Key Stage 1 students have two weekly Guided Reading lessons with our native-speaking and local English teachers to practice blending while reading. Specially designed phonics booklets and videos are also prepared for home practice to achieve assessment for learning. In addition, regular phonics dictations are conducted to help teachers assess students' learning outcomes.

Reading-to-Learn Reading Programme

After students acquire the prerequisite phonics skills and knowledge in KS1, they will be introduced to different readers with diverse topics to develop their interest in reading. Through exposure to a variety of text types on a myriad of topics, students can develop various reading skills, extend their knowledge about the world, and broaden their perspectives on life, laying a firm foundation for self-directed learning.

Values Education

Values Education is an essential element of whole-person education. The curriculum includes meaningful learning experiences for students to foster proper values and attitudes, so that they can make reasonable judgements on different issues they may encounter in life and take proper actions to deal with their challenges in the future.

【English Week】

Our school organizes the annual "English Week", a week-long event designed to create a rich English-speaking environment on campus. Through a variety of school-wide activities, including singing competitions, booth games, and a quiz show, the event aims to enhance students' English communication skills and boost their confidence.
